Dealing with junk mail
As a new internet user you can very quikly be flooded with lots of things you don't really want. Junk mail is one of these things.
Junk mail, spam, unsolicited commercial email or whatever you call it - most people hate it and are struggling to keep their mail clean. The people that generate the email are called spammers and often have sophisticated software that automatically farms (reads email addresses off other websites or generates lots of random addresses). Some of the free email like gmail and hotmail have special filters that you can switch on and off where mail yopu have not asked for goes into a junk folder - you can usually alter how strong you want to vet the emails. Outlook and outlook express have special tools built into them that mean you can filter mail containing words or subjects you don't wish to read about.
